During September, 2014, President of the People’s Republic China, H.E Xi Jinping state visit to the
Maldives,

the commercial contract agreement for the Expansion and Upgrading of VIA Project was signed
between Beijing Urban Construction Group (BUCG) and Maldives Airports Company Ltd (MACL),
witnessed by the Presidents from both countries.
两国领导人见证了 BUCG 与 MACL 就维拉纳国际机场项目的签约仪式。
VIA Project is a symbol of Chinese-Maldives friendship.

This project will mainly include:
工程建设内容主要包括 4 个部分：
new runway and apron,
新建跑道和停机坪部分、
new cargo terminal,
新建货运站部分、
new fuel farm and fueling facilities at the apron,
新建油库及机坪加油管线部分、
reclamation and shore protection at Velana International Airport.
填海和护岸部分。
Reclamation and shore protection will start first after the commencement date.
改扩建工程正式启动后，首先进行的是填海和护岸施工，
Reclamation will take the sand from nearby lagoon to fill from south to north.
填海工程采用就近泻湖取砂方案，从南向北依次填海施工，
After reclamation and shore protection,
填海施工结束后开展护岸工程施工，
the new asphalt runway will be constructed from south to north.
新建跑道为沥青混凝土结构按照从南向北顺序进行；
The new cement concrete apron will be constructed from west to east.
新建跑道长 3400 米，宽 60 米，道肩 7.5 米，跑道沥青混凝土面层采用全幅施工。

A new Code 4F runway will meet the landing requirement for type F of aircrafts such as A380 and B747,
etc.
新建跑道等级为 4F，满足 A380 等 F 类机型的使用要求，
The new runway has tilted 0.9 degree to the east of the 190m parallel line to the existing runway
新跑道以距原跑道 190m 的平行线为基线，向东（顺时针）旋转 0.9°
with the number of 18-36.
跑道编号为 18-36。
The new runway will have 8 link taxiways
新跑道拥有 8 条联络道，
for easy access and the existing apron will be expanded for more parking space.

The new cargo terminal will consist of new cargo terminal and boat jetties
新货运站工程内容包括新货运站和船舶码头，
which will be 3 times the size of the existing cargo facility.

The construction of new buildings and structures on the fuel farm include:
新建油库工程，主要包括
3 sets of 15,000m³ vertical dome-roof cone-bottom aviation fuel tanks,
3 座 15000m³立式拱顶锥底航煤储罐、
2 sets of 500m³ vertical dome-roof diesel tanks,
2 座 500m³立式拱顶柴油储罐、
2 sets of 50m³ ground horizontal petrol tanks,
2 座 50m³地上卧式汽油储罐、
as well as pump station, fuel loading station & miscellaneous facilities.
通过船舶运输入场的油料，经码头输油臂卸油，有哪些知名配音公司输送至油库储罐内储存；
化验合格后的油料从油库油泵棚引出，经新建加油管线输送至新建停机坪；
供油泵站、机坪加油管线及其他附属设施。

机场飞行区严格按照国际民航组织（ICAO）的规范和标准进行设计、建造与验收。建设一条能起降

The new cargo terminal will cater for the ground operation activities of the cargo delivered by aircraft
such as general cargo and special cargo which also includes import cargo transit. The export cargo will be
handled more efficiently with security checks and faster processing for delivery at airside. The import
