If you are an Actreen Hi-Lite Cath Tiemann user, always wash your hands thoroughly. Make yourself comfortable. Clean the area around the urethra.

To open the product, firstly, remove the protective film on the connector side. Now open on the catheter side. There are two no-touch options. If you want to use the foldable no-touch technique, open at A. If you have good dexterity, grip and tear off the film at mark A. If you have reduced dexterity, hold the catheter with one hand, and with the other hand, insert your thumb into the eyelet at mark A, and remove the protective film. Then fold up the sheath into accordion folds without touching the catheter.

If you want to use the simplified no-touch technique, open at B. Release the movable sheath by gripping and tearing off the film at the marks. The movable part between B and 1 will protect the catheter when handling. Finally, if you do not need to use the no-touch techniques and you want to release the whole catheter after removing the film at mark 1 from the connector side, hold the cone, lift the catheter out of the packaging.

Hold the penis pointing upwards in order to straighten the urethra. Ensure that the marker on the end of the connector is pointing upwards before inserting the catheter. This visual marker also helps you to ensure that the catheter is correctly positioned throughout catheterization. The curved tip will be pointing upwards as you insert the catheter. Insert the catheter slowly and carefully into the urethra. To help limit resistance, point your penis downwards. You may feel some resistance if the catheter reaches a narrowing or obstruction such as an enlarged prostate. If you do, apply a little more pressure to help the catheter glide through. Continue inserting the catheter until urine starts to flow. A slight manual pressure on the lower abdomen will ensure that the bladder has been completely emptied. When the urine stops flowing, slowly remove the catheter. To stop the catheter from dripping, you can turn up the connector end of the catheter when removing.
